Belarus Open Track Cycling Championship in Olympic events, which was held at Minsk Arena velodrome on July 28-30, was a success for the racers of Minsk Cycling Club.
On Friday, July 28, the competition program opened with team events. In the team pursuit race, the quartet of Minsk Cycling Club consisting of Alina Karotkina, Katsiaryna Rusak, Iryna Chuyankova and Kseniya Shynkarenka had no equal. Our girls confidently won the qualification with a result of 4.37.732 seconds, and in the final race they caught up with Minsk city team.
The quartet from Minsk Cycling Club (Yauheni Karaliok, Dzianis Mazur, Raman Ramanau, Raman Tsishkou) also confidently won the men’s competition. Having won the qualification, in the final they easily dealt with another Minsk Cycling Club quartet consisting of Artur Kiryevich, Dzianis Marchuk, Mark Grinkevich and Aliaksei Shmantsar.
In the team sprint, Minsk Cycling Club team, represented by Hanna Tserakh, Aryna Staravoitava and Nastassia Kiptsikava, won. The capital's trio showed the best time in the qualifying race, and then confirmed their advantage in the final with Minsk team.
The men's team sprint quite unexpectedly was outcompeted by the junior team of Minsk Cycling Club (Piotr Trybusheuski, Pavel Valuika, Kiryl Hutsko), which won the qualification and final race against the team from Mogilev region.
Saturday at the national championship turned out to be rich in intense and stubborn competition. Tempo racers were sorting things out in omnium. The women's race was deservedly won by the racer of Minsk Cycling Club, Hanna Tserakh, who scored 139 points based on the results of four events. Her teammate Nastassia Kiptsikava finished second with 127 points. Another representative of “Minsk Cycling Club”, Karalina Biruk (122), completed the top three.
In the men's omnium, the intrigue remained almost until the last finish in the group race. In the end, the victory went to Minsk Cycling Club racer Mamyr Stash, who scored 138 points. Dzianis Mazur (131) snatched second place thanks to the final finish. And the third was another Minsk Cycling Club racer Yauheni Karaliok - 129 points.
The women's sprint was won by Minsk Cycling Club racer Varvara Basiakova. In the final races, she was stronger than the representative of Brest region, Yuliya Manets.
In the men's sprint, Minsk Cycling Club sprinter Aliaksandr Hlova won the decisive final race, but was demoted for violating the rules and finished second. Another Minsk Cycling Club racer, Pavel Valuika, climbed to the third step of the podium.
The final day of Belarus Championship brought Minsk Cycling Club a scattering of medals in madison and keirin.
In the women's madison, the victory was won by the pair Hanna Tserakh – Taisa Naskovich, who scored 34 points. Second place went to the tandem of Nastassia Kiptsikava and Iryna Chuyankova (29). The third result was shown by Kseniya Shynkarenka and Alina Karotkina (10).
Among the men in madison, the pair Yauheni Karaliok - Raman Tsishkou, who earned two laps of distance advantage and 98 points, was beyond competition. Silver medalists Dzianis Mazur and Artur Kiryevich earned 37 points. And bronze medalists Aliaksei Shmantsar and Dmitry Ivanchenkoo scored 12 points.
In the women's keirin, Hanna Tserakh won a landslide victory, for whom this was already the second final of the day. Karalina Biruk took second place. And Varvara Basiakova finished third.
In the men's keirin, the fate of the champion title was decided in a duel between Artsiom Zaitsau and Alliaksandr Hlova. The sprinters fought a stubborn battle until the finish, but in the end Hlova took revenge for the sprint.
