After the cycling tournament "Pershy Rovar" on June 1, adults and children rode in a column from the Sports Palace to Minsk Arena and back. About 3 thousand people took part in the bike parade, the correspondent of Minsk-Novosti agency reports.
A similar event during the children's and youth competition "Pershy Rovar" was organized in 2023. Then about 2 thousand participants rode along Matusevich Street and asked the city authorities to continue the initiative in 2024. Perhaps on a larger scale. And for bike lovers, such a holiday was organized. But only on one of the main avenues of the capital - Pobediteley Ave.
Parade participants began flocking to the starting point an hour and a half before the start. People talked, imagined what the event would be like, how many people would come. Among those who decided to go were the heads of sports federations, district administrations, deputies, athletes, businessmen. And there were also many young people. According to preliminary estimates, about 3 thousand people came to the start.
The participants drove out through the gates for several minutes. And 25 minutes after the start of the parade, the fastest arrived at the finish line. Another 8-9 minutes later, the main part of the column finished the race. Chairman of Minsk City Council of Deputies Artem Tsuran shared his impressions:
— It was fantastic! Being in such a company of professionals and athletes gave me strength. The distance is short. During bike rides, I ride back and forth along Minsk bike path (about 55 km. — Author's note), so today I felt comfortable at the distance. The bike parade should be made traditional, as it brings a lot of positive emotions to residents. It doesn't matter what shape you are in — you don't have to ride at high speed.
First Deputy Minister of Sports and Tourism Aleksandr Dorokhovich, who took part in the race, noted that all the participants rode the distance with smiles, with happy eyes. Along the road stood Minsk residents who supported the cyclists, waving their hands. In a word, this is a sea of positivity. And this means that the goal was achieved, the holiday was a success. And the interlocutor also emphasized that it is necessary to invite others to such events by personal example.
Father Maksim and his son Arseniy enjoyed the ride. The parent said that he heard about the parade by chance and decided not to miss the opportunity to ride along the avenue with the wind in his hair with his child. Maksim added that this is a cool initiative, and he expects that in the coming years it will be continued. He rides along the avenue on his bike every day. Even in winter, since the paths are cleared.
The celebration at the Sports Palace will continue with a concert featuring Belarusian pop artists.
