One of the leaders of Minsk Cycling Club, two-time world champion Yauheni Karaliok once again demonstrated his high class by winning a beautiful and difficult victory in the finals of the scratch race at Belarus Open Track Cycling Championships.
Despite numerous attacks throughout the entire 15 km distance, no one managed to break away. As a result, the fate of the medals was decided in the final sprint, which turned out to be so tight that a photo finish was needed to determine the winner.
As a result, the rider of Minsk Cycling Club Yauheni Karaliok took first place, leaving behind the Russians Denis Denisov and Sergey Rostovtsev.
In scratch among juniors, Minsk Cycling Club riders made the whole podium. The first was Kiryl Hutsko, who was ahead of his teammates Aliaksandr Karneyenka and Pavel Valuiko at the finish line.
These were not the last medals of Minsk Cycling Club on the second day of the championship. The women's team riders won the team pursuit. First, the quartet consisting of Hanna Tserakh, Nastassia Kiptsikava, Taisa Naskovich and Karalina Savenka, who performed for the national team of Belarus, won the qualification, and then in the final with a time of 4:27.567 seconds was stronger than the Russian national team.
The third place in the women's team pursuit was won by the team of Minsk Cycling Club, made up of Katsiaryna Rusak, Iryna Chuyankova, Anhelina Krasko and Alina Abramenko.
One more medal to Minsk Cycling Club in the team pursuit brought juniors. Kiryl Hutsko, Mikita Varantsou, Piotr Trybusheuski, Aliaksandr Karneyenka and Pavel Valuiko climbed to the third step of the podium.
But in team sprint, representatives of Minsk Cycling Club junior team performed more successfully. The trio of Kiryl Hutsko, Piotr Trybusheuski and Pavel Valuiko showed the best seconds both in qualification and in the final.
