The 43-year-old athlete again showed excellent form and won his seventh Belarus champion title in the group race.
Unlike the women, the men did not postpone the showdown until the end of the 170-kilometer distance. The attacks began from the first laps, and soon a breakaway of nine people formed (Strokau, Shmantsar, Sobal, Kaminski, Stash, Yahor Shpakouski, Shulchenko, Shishkov, Miller), which increased its advantage with each lap. The remnants of the peloton were never able to organize a coordinated effort to try to catch up with the breakaway.
By the middle of the race it became clear that one of the breakaway participants would become the champion.
Meanwhile, things were uneasy there too. Strokau tried to go into a solo lead, but was unable to make a serious start. In the last laps, Sobal and Shulchenko moved to him. The trio of leaders confidently moved towards the finish line, but five kilometers later Sobal attacked and left for another title. Russian Shulchenko, who competed outside the competition, finished second. Vasili Strokau came third and won a silver medal. Bronze went to Yahor Shpakouski.
Zakhar Kaminski celebrated the victory among the Unders. Kiryl Hutsko took second place, winning the finish line from Aliaksandr Sychuhou, who completed the top three.
The junior men race that took place the day before brought victory to Mikita Babovich. Second place went to Danila Valkovich. Vladislav Korenikha finished third.
