On Friday, July 8, road races were held in Raubichi within the Olympic Youth Days. The victory among women juniors was won by the rider of Minsk Cycling Club Palina Konrad. Among the men juniors, Viachaslau Shpakouski, the representative of the capital's club, was also the first to finish.
Women juniors rode a distance of 80.7 km - 3 long laps and 3 laps on the ski-roller track of Raubichi sports complex. 20 athletes toed the starting line.
In the big laps, the group broke away, in which the tone was set by two riders representing Mogilev region and Minsk Cycling Club - Palina Konrad and Kseniya Shynkarenka. In small laps, they left their rivals and together they arrived at the finish line, but Konrad was faster. Bronze medal winner Yuliya Usava (Minsk) was 47 seconds behind.
The distance for juniors (men) was 127.5 km (5 large and 5 small laps). The start list consisted of 28 riders.
There were many attacks until ten people broke away, who increased their advantage with every kilometer. And it soon became clear that they would decide the fate of the race. On the curving and rough track in Raubichi, Uladzislau Yarash, who was super active in this race, launched an attack. Viachaslau Shpakouski, Kiryl Hutsko and Anton Klimchyk rushed in pursuit of him. But only Shpakovsky managed to catch up with the leader and teammate, who emerged the winner in the final duel of teammates. Kiryl Hutsko, another racer of Minsk Cycling Club, finished third 26 seconds later.
Thus, representatives of the capital club took all the places on the podium of the junior road races.
