The third day of Belarus Open Track Cycling Championships brought Minsk Cycling Club a new victory – Hanna Tserakh climbed to the top step of the podium in the women's points race.
The victory of the capital team rider was not easy. The participation of strong Russian athletes, including the European champion Gulnaz Khatuntseva, noticeably aggravated the struggle. The racers of Minsk Cycling Club were active throughout the entire 20 km distance, however, only Hanna Tserakh managed to earn a lap of distance advantage in the company of Khatuntseva.
Before the final sprint, the main contenders for gold were separated by only one point in favor of the Russian. However, the Belarusian managed not only to get ahead of her rival, but also was the second at the main finish. This was enough to lead the final standings with 35 points. The second was Khatuntseva - 32, the third - the Russian athlete Klimova - 20.
In men's points race final, the competition was even tougher due to the high representation of Russians. As a result, Yauheni Karaliok, despite his activity and numerous attacks, could not get above seventh place.
A similar situation was in junior men’s points race, where the best of the Belarusians was the representative of Minsk Cycling Club Kiryl Hutsko, who took ninth place.
